Ixia End-of-Life (EOL) Policy

There are many reasons why products eventually reach the end of their product life cycle. These reasons include market demand, replacement by next generation products, component availability or technology changes. Ixia understands that when a product reaches its end of life stage customers will have concerns as to how the product will be supported. The policy outlined here is intended to give customers an explanation of the EOL process. Due to the reasons stated above, Ixia may place any product into the End of Life (EOL) process. All dates associated with the EOL Process will be stated at that time of the announcement. Below is a description of all the associated dates.

Key Terms

There are four key terms and dates associated with the End-of-Life process of Ixia hardware and software products defined as follows:
End-of-Sale Announcement (EOSA) - On this date Ixia will give notice that it intends to discontinue sales of a product. The announcement will include an End-of-Sale date, which will be a minimum of six (6) months after the EOSA date.

End-of-Sale (EOS) - This is the last day to order products that have entered the EOL process with an EOS Announcement. After this date, EOS products may not be available for purchase. The EOS date will be at least six (6) months after the EOS Announcement date.

End-of-Development (EOD) - Up until this day Ixia will, to the best of its ability, provide software updates for products in the EOL process. The EOD date will be at least one (1) year after the EOS date.

End-of-Life (EOL) - After this date Ixia may no longer provide technical support services or repair services on the product. This date will be four (4) years after the EOD date or five (5) years after the EOS date, whichever is earlier.

End-of-Life (EOL) Guidelines

  1. Customer Orders - Customers may order product until the EOS date.
  2. Application / Feature Bug Fix Support until End-of-Development (EOD) - All application features supported on the board or chassis at the time of the EOS announcement will continue to be supported with bug fixes until the EOD. New application features that are released after the EOS announcement will only be supported at Ixia's discretion.
  3. Extended Warranty - Ixia will continue to sell Extended Warranty renewal options on products in the End-of-Life process until the EOL date. The Extended Warranty option provides for technical support services and hardware repairs. In cases where repair is not possible and an exact replacement is not available, Ixia reserves the right to replace the product with an alternate product of similar or greater functionality. There may be cases when such repair or replacement is not possible, in which case Ixia repair services will do as much as possible to try to ensure a repair option in all cases. Under this warranty, Ixia will not provide Hardware Description Language (HDL) code changes to correct programming defects to products that have reached the EOD date. Please review the Ixia Limited Warranty for more details. When applicable, charges will be pro-rated so that warranty ends on the EOL date.
  4. Extended Maintenance - Ixia will continue to sell Extended Maintenance renewal options on software products in the End-of-Life process until the EOL date. The Extended Maintenance option provides technical support services along with software updates and to the extent possible, corrections for programming defects. Under this maintenance policy, Ixia will not provide software changes to correct programming defects to products that have reached the EOD date. Please review the Ixia Limited Warranty for more details. When applicable, charges will be pro-rated so that maintenance ends on the EOL date.
  5. Out of Warranty Hardware Repair - From release of hardware products until the EOL date, Ixia will provide an Out-of-Warranty Hardware Repair option for the product.
  6. End-of-Sale (EOS) Items with Next Generation Products Available - Certain products that have a next generation product available or other constraints may not follow these guidelines. Those products will be noted in the End-of-Sale Announcement (EOSA).
