IxVeriWave, acquired by Ixia in July, 2011, employs a client-centric model to test Wi-Fi and wireless LAN networks by generating repeatable large-scale, real-world test scenarios that are virtually impossible to create by any other means.
The IxCatapult test system consists of both hardware and software elements and can be reconfigured and expanded as your testing needs change. IxCatapult provides more than just simple top-level traffic diagnostics. Our industry-leading test capabilities cover both wireless access and wireless core, including the 3G packet core, 3G circuit switched core, 3G radio access network, LTE access, LTE evolved packet core, and SS7/PSTN interconnect.
Ixia's IxNetwork and IxN2X test and verify the performance of core, edge, and customer premise routers and layer 3 switches using large-scale protocol emulations and high traffic load generation. Protocols supported include IGPs (OSPF, IS-IS, RIP), BGP, MPLS (including layer 2 and 3 VPNs), and IP multicast.
Ixia's IxNetwork and IxN2X test layer 2/3 switches and forwarding devices by generating traffic load across a mesh of interfaces, and then measuring results down to a per-flow basis. For Carrier Ethernet, best-of-class timing solutions validate that the network supports robust and accurate mobile backhaul.
Ixia's IxExplorer tests layer 2/3 switches and forwarding devices by generating traffic loads with very granular packet parameter controls, and then providing detailed results analysis. Measurements include throughput, latency, inter-arrival time, data integrity, and sequence checking.

Content-Aware Device Testing
Ixia's IxLoad tests the performance of content-aware networks and devices, including deep packet inspection (DPI) devices, server load balancers (SLB), firewalls, web servers and mail servers. IxLoad can emulate millions of clients and a variety of servers in realistic performance testing scenarios. Protocols supported include TCP, HTTP, SSL, FTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, RTP, RTSP, Telnet, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, SIP, MPEG, and IGMP, as well as distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
Ixia's IxLoad emulates true application traffic by using fully-stateful traffic − a distinction from other traffic generators that only replay captured traffic. IxLoad uses P2P (BitTorrent, eDonkey), PPPoE, SSL, RADIUS, and WAP to thoroughly test device capabilities.
Ixia's IxLoad, IxNetwork, and IxN2X test broadband aggregation devices – including B-RAS, DSLAMs, CMTSs, and edge routers – by emulating millions of broadband clients and generating traffic load over those connections. Protocol support includes PPPoE, PPPoA, L2TPv2, and L2TPv3.
Multiplay Device Testing
Ixia's IxLoad tests all types of devices and networks that handle and forward voice, video, and data traffic, including peer-to-peer, web, FTP, e-mail, and custom protocols. IxLoad's unique subscriber modeling can create multiple user communities with different patterns of usage – lending realism to device and network testing. Ixia's unrivaled platform scale can pre-test any network with realistic, full-scale traffic.
Ixia's IxLoad tests the performance of video servers, multicast routers, and the video delivery network by emulating servers and millions of subscribers, using video on demand and broadcast video scenarios. Protocols supported include MPEG, IGMP, MLD, and RTSP. Ixia measures transmission quality using MDI, and perceptual video quality using TVQM.
Ixia's IxLoad tests the functionality of VoIP devices and services using emulated end devices and servers. Testing areas supported include SIP, SCCP (Skinny), H.323, MGCP, and H.248 (MEGACO). IxLoad emulates thousands of SIP callers and callees in performance testing scenarios. IxLoad emulates Class 5 features at great scale, provides PESQ quality scores in real-time, and tests multiple call scenarios while maintaining the highest-density test environment.
Ixia's IxNetwork tests devices that support 802.1x authentication by highly scalable emulation of 802.1x clients (supplicants). Authentication modes supported include MD5, TLS, TTLS, PEAP, and NAC.
Ixia's IxLoad-Attack tests the performance of layer 4-7 security devices, including firewalls, SSL gateways, virus scanners, spam filters, and intrusion detection systems (IDSs). IxLoad emulates clients and servers, several layer 4-7 protocols, and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. Key capabilities include mixing valid user traffic with malicious traffic, and attaching viruses to emails.
IxLoad-Attack tests and verifies the performance of IPsec VPN gateways and systems by establishing and authenticating IPsec tunnels, and then generating traffic loads over the tunnels. IxVPN supports site-to-site and remote access VPN testing, as well as DES, 3DES and AES encryption. IxVPN also tests DMVPN-based networks − an industry first.

Ixia's Test Conductor is a complete automation environment that controls the sequencing and execution of tests from most Ixia test applications. It provides a complete regression environment for lights-out testing of devices and systems.
Ixia's IxAutomate provides a complete automation environment for testing layer 2/3 routers, switches and similar devices. IxAutomate also includes a number of tests for content-aware devices that handle triple play traffic. A set of predefined test suites can execute performance and functionality tests. Both predefined and custom developed tests can be scheduled for execution, and they can include configuration commands for the device under test.
Network Performance Measurement and Troubleshooting
IxChariot tests the broadband access transport network by emulating application traffic – whether data, voice, or video – and measuring end-to-end performance and quality. Measurements include throughput, latency, jitter, mean opinion score (MOS), and media delivery index (MDI).
