Ixia Provides MPLS Application Interoperability Testing for Carrier-Grade Networks at MPLS World Congress 2007
Optixia X16 Test Platform Selected for its Unique Ability to Provide Quality of Service Measurements for up to 128,000 Concurrent Connections on an MPLS Network
CALABASAS, Calif. - (February 7, 2007) - Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems, today announced that its Optixia™ X16 test platform and its Aptixia IxNetwork™ test applications were used to validate the interoperability of devices and services provided by 10 leading equipment vendors for the European Advanced Networking Test Center's (EANTC) Multi-Vendor Interoperability Event at the MPLS World Congress 2007, held in Paris this week. Ixia's Optixia X16 platform and IxNetwork test application are emulating real-world traffic for a next generation end-to-end carrier network infrastructure transporting residential IPTV, triple play and business services. Ixia was selected for its unique ability to provide quality of service measurements for up to 128,000 concurrent connections on the MPLS network and its broad support for MPLS protocols.
"Ixia's participation is playing an important role in the success of our Multi-Vendor Interoperability Event," said Carsten Rossenhövel, managing director of EANTC. "Ixia has a long and successful history of providing leadership and fostering the development of MPLS. Their performance during this Interop event exceeds our expectations. "The Ixia test solution is playing a key role in helping EANTC meet its goal of providing carriers with a realistic picture of technical solutions, potential deployment issues and best practices in network design. Using the Optixia test platform with IxNetwork, end-to-end user traffic is being tested and verified for interoperability and performance over multiple topologies including multi-carrier Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN over MPLS, End-to-End Pseudowires and Multi-Segment Pseudowires.
"The advancement of MPLS is highly dependent on the collaboration of equipment vendors and service providers to ensure true interoperability and high quality of experience, and that is where Ixia is focused today," said Errol Ginsberg, Ixia CEO. "EANTC is providing a great service to the industry by offering a multi-vendor validation process for MPLS networks and services."Ixia's IxNetwork offers users the flexibility to customize their application to meet a wide range of requirements for testing complex network topologies consisting of thousands of network devices. Millions of routes and reachable hosts can be emulated within the topology. IxNetwork also provides users with the ability to customize millions of traffic flows to stress data plane performance. Ixia's Optixia chassis provide the basis for IxNetwork's superior testing capability.
