Ixia Announces a Major New Release of its IxLoad Testing Solution
Ixia has released a major expansion of its standard-bearer IxLoad test application. Aptixia IxLoad is a highly scalable, integrated test solution for assessing the performance of triple-play networks and devices. IxLoad 3.30 builds on its extensive library of protocols and unsurpassed flexibility with enhancement to its graphical user interface, test timelines, traffic modeling, and protocols.A true converged Triple play testing solution
IxLoad is the only converged test solution available today. Complete real-world triple-play traffic can be generated and measured, with a single test tool. Any number of clients and servers can be emulated in enough volume to test today's largest Internet devices and servers.Extreme productivity - from beginner to expert in no time!
IxLoad offers extreme productivity. Our users go from beginner to expert in record time. The new traffic flow editor provides an intuitive workflow that makes it simple and straightforward to create, refine and reuse a test configuration. Tests developed with the traffic flow editor can be automated with just one click.
The IxLoad GUI has been refreshed and enhanced to provide an improved workflow. Traffic sources and destinations are created and connected with a few clicks. Users have tooltips to get with all aspects of the test configuration. The visual user interface also gives users the complete picture of test configurations a single view.
Resource management
A powerful resource manager allows all test configuration elements to be saved as global resources and be re-used to build additional test scenarios. Having frequently used test objects like device-under-test, network settings, subscriber behaviour, and protocol characteristics provides engineers fast and easy access toutilize elements from this library again and again.Graphical Timelines
One-Click Automation![]()
A timeline specifies the manner in which a protocol load (e.g. sessions, traffic, and connections) is applied to the device or network during a test. Each protocol used in a test may have its own timeline and multiple timelines may be used in a test to mimic real traffic patterns. With multiple timelines, IxLoad 3.30 can emulate any real-world traffic load scenario.
Any test scenario, once perfected through the use of the IxLoad GUI, can be automated with a single click. Tests are generated as Tcl source files, which may be edited and combined as necessary to prepare regressions and other automation tasks.
IxLoad's complete Tcl API provides the power and flexibility required to build test suites that are reliable in running tests consistently and repeatedly.
True Subscriber-based modeling
A true subscriber-based model allows you to exactly match traffic profiles to expected customer load. Uplink and downlink capacities, along with multiple graphical timelines provide unique modeling capabilities. New with IxLoad 3.30, subscriber-based modeling allows IxLoad to create client-side traffic that closely matches real-world user behavior. Traffic, configuration and statistics are all tied to subscribers. Subscribers can also be modeled by their uplink and downlink speeds to simulate different levels of service and to determine their quality of experience under different levels of service.Ultra-high Performance
Aptixia IxLoad provides extreme performance, even for multi-protocol configurations. In conjunction with Ixia's XM-12 10U-height chassis and XMV-16 interface modules, IxLoad can fully test network devices with up to 192 Gigabit Ethernet ports simultaneously. A fully-loaded XM-12 chassis can establish over 36 million concurrent HTTP connections at more than 2.8 million connections per second. Triple-play application traffic can be sustained at a rate of over 180 Gbps.
With the advent of the Ixia's new high-performance XMV-12X load module, true 10Gbps stateful testing is now available - an industry first! The XMV-12X module supports a combination of twelve 1Gbps and one 10Gbps interface that is capable of generating real world stateful traffic including data, voice and video at maximum speeds.
Aptixia IxLoad
IxLoad emulates IPTV and Triple Play subscribers and associated protocols to ensure subscriber Quality of Experience (QoE). Supported protocols include MPEG, IGMP, and RTSP video protocols, SIP and MGCP voice protocols, and HTTP, FTP, and SMTP data protocols. IPv4 and IPv6 protocol variants are supported throughout. In addition, IxLoad can be used to test critical infrastructure aspects, including DNS, DHCP, DHCP/PD, and AAA services, and can generate malicious traffic to test for security. RADIUS and SSH client emulation are new to IxLoad 3.30. RADIUS clients emulate Network Access Servers (NASs) which utilize the RADIUS protocol to talk to AAA servers that authenticate user login credentials and to provide user-specific access information. SSH client emulation tests the rate and capacity of SSH servers in establishing connections with thousands of users, each with unique passwords.
SIP emulation has been expanded with IPv6 coverage and MPEG2 videos.
