Performing IP Security Testing for Networks and Devices

Ixia's platform and test applications cover the wide range of IP security analysis and robustness testing needs. IxDefend is a preemptive IP security analysis tool that finds reliability and robustness problems in software components, applications and systems, featuring the broadest coverage in the industry. IxDefend diagnoses problems in network systems that use combinations of 40 network protocols. IxDefend operates both on independent PCs and on Ixia test ports.

IP security is an essential concern for NEMs, service providers and enterprises who field Internet and intranet applications and services. Specific protocols and devices are designed to provide authentication and data security, among them are user authentication associated with EAPOL (802.1x), PPP and encryption techniques IPSec, TLS and SSL. Furthermore, every protocol and device is subject to exploit due to insufficient consideration for security, resiliency and robustness. In addition, any application and system has a capacity limit and the behavior at that limit is a frequent attack vector.

IxVPN is specifically designed to test the operation of large-scale IPSec gateway devices and to measure their performance. IxLoad can be used to limit-test firewalls and servers of all types through the use of standard application protocol tests, with or without simultaneous DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks. IxNetwork includes components that exercise 802.1x, PPP and NAC device implementations. IxANVL's IPSec and 802.1x conformance tests ensure proper protocol implementation.
