Mobile World Congress 2016 Recap

March 4, 2016 by Cory Tinkess

With over 101,000 attendees from 204 countries, 374 speakers, 2,200 exhibitors, and 3,600 members of the press at MWC16, it was an exciting and hectic week at the Fira Gran Via Conference Center. New mobile communication developments were on display along with virtual networking solutions.

We hosted hundreds of customers in the Ixia booth for both quick and in-depth discussions on our new Ixia Vision ONE network packet broker, our award-winning ThreatARMOR security appliance, and many other solutions for network testing, visibility, and security.

In the Hewlett Packard Enterprise OpenNFV Partner booth, we showcased our solution with Anritsu and HPE to demonstrate customer experience assurance (CEA) capabilities on the HPE OpenNFV Platform. We delivered over one hundred demonstrations to visitors. The number one comment we routinely heard was about the value that IT professionals are seeing when they achieve 100% visibility into packet-level data within their virtual environments.

Ixia solutions and logos were also found in the booths of other partners including Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Tata Consultancy Services, CENX, Anristu, and NEC.

Now that the dust has settled on MWC16, it’s clear that when you bring the global enthusiasm for mobility into a single venue, it creates palpable excitement for the future. The sense of purpose and teamwork was everywhere and the event theme of “Mobile is Everything” was reflected in people’s engagement and energy. Fortunately, we’ll get to experience this again at MWC17!
