IxN2X: Integrated L2-3 data/control plane performance and functional testing with synchronous Ethernet and routing/bridging protocol emulation

*Note: The IxN2X application software is in the End-of-Life program and beyond the maintenance window. The last published version 7.60GA SP2 is available for download from Ixia’s Support web portal. The matching IxOS version IxOS 6.80 EA SP1 is also required to run IxN2X 7.60GA SP2.

Fusion Program

The following diagram shows how to extend IxN2X systems for use with Ixia chassis and FUSION-enabled load modules, as well as with Ixia native applications on the same setup, simultaneously (on separate modules).

The TDM distributes timing and events:

  • Acts as the timing master for all components
  • Distributes events between Ixia chassis and IxN2X chassis

Enables simultaneous operation of Ixia applications and IxN2X applications (not on the same module)


[1] The 8-port load modules use a high performance 800MHz processor with additional layer 2 cache. The 2 and 4-port load modules use the 1GHz version of the same processor.

Ixia's 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) NGY load modules delivers an industry-leading, high-density, and affordable Layer 2-7, 10GbE IP test solution. Under Ixia's Fusion program, FUSION-enabled NGY load modules are capable running IxN2XTM applications as well as IxNetworkTM, IxLoadTM, and other Ixia applications.

This unprecedented cross-platform compatibility provides an extraordinary value proposition to existing IxN2XTM users in supporting both Ixia applications and the IxN2X application on a high density platform. Also, it allows the user-base presently employing IxN2X and Ixia chassis platforms to leverage their hardware across both. In conjunction with IxNetwork, IxLoad, and other Ixia applications, IxN2X provides support for a wide breadth of protocols and application testing.
