More than the Telecommunications Standard of the Future

White Papers

5G is Here Now

There has been quite a bit of 5G momentum in 2017 with broadband providers, network equipment manufacturers and chipset makers teaming up to deploy or test 5G networks in many countries around the world. 5G is going so well that experts predict widespread adoption around 2020 or 2022. Yet that timeline is not on track, according to the businesses across the globe that are already planning— and in some cases, already deploying—5G technology for their organizations.

A recent survey of global senior technology professionals found that 5G is not the telecommunications standard for the future. It is the telecom standard for the present.

Ixia recently commissioned Dimensional Research to conduct a survey to measure preparation and attitudes toward 5G deployment across the globe – and the results showed very clearly that nearly half of global businesses have already deployed 5G networks, or plan to deploy within the next 12 months. These findings make it clear that 5G is not merely vaporware: it is here, and it is delivering greater reliability and lower latency to broadband networks.
